Christian bloggers on Proposition 8 Persecution

Michael Laprarie makes some noise about the “post-Proposition 8 unhinged gay meltdown …” opining:

Maybe Sally Kern was on to something — “Palm Springs Rally Turns Violent“  The post-Proposition 8 unhinged gay meltdown continues in California.  Witness angry gays attack a pro-Prop8 protester, wrestle her cross away, and stomp on it.  Then imagine the maniacal screaming fit national gay activists would have if a Christian protester ever ripped down a rainbow flag and stomped it into the ground …

… Interestingly, Proposition 8 (which defined marriage specifically between a man and a woman) passed by a 52% - 48% margin, similar to the national Presidential election spread.  If liberals are willing to proclaim 52% as “America united” and a “mandate” for their party, what does that say about Proposition 8’s 52% majority?

The Evangelical Outpost on Tolerance and Grace and Humor!

Tolerance: “A fair, objective, and permissive attitude toward opinions and practices that differ from one’s own.”

From the Desert Sun:

“The woman at the center of a disturbance that erupted at a protest against the gay marriage ban on Friday will be pressing charges, The Desert Sun has learned.

Phyllis Burgess alleges that she was assaulted as she carried a Styrofoam cross through the crowd at a No on Proposition 8 rally. The 69-year-old Palm Springs resident originally declined to press charges when asked by police and joked she felt lucky, at least she didn’t lose her wig in the tussle like Cloris Leachman did on Dancing with the Stars.”

In The Agora raises the spectre of McCarthyism with a post entitled ‘On Boycotts and Blacklists‘:

There is a website called AntiGayBlacklist.com, which lists organizations and individuals (and those individuals’ employers and cities) who donated $1000 or more to the campaign in favor of Proposition 8. By law, this information is a matter of public record (although public record does not always equal “publicized”). This is not the first time pro-gay marriage advocates have used this tactic to intimidate supporters of a traditional definition of marriage. In 2005, a gay activist couple created a web site listing the name and address of anyone signing a petition to ban gay marriage in Massachusetts.

One such person listed on the California blacklist is Scott Eckern, the (former) artistic director of the California Musical Theatre. A 25-year employee of the CMT, Eckern believed that the traditional definition of marriage should be preserved, although he also supports legal recognition of domestic partnerships. After Eckern’s name was found on the blacklist, the CMT was inundated with emails and calls for a boycott of the theatre by gay and lesbian artists.

The Evangelical Outpost again - this time asserting that ‘Prop 8 Is About the Kids‘:

Californians, today you are being asked to vote on one of the most critical pieces of legislation that we have yet seen. I have given an extensive argument for why I believe it is moral and just to support proposition 8. The argument by those opposing proposition 8 is that it is wrong and unfair. They say that Proposition 8 has nothing to do with what goes on in your family or my family and everything to do with affirming love. However, the education that your children receive in schools directly impacts your family. That opponents of proposition 8 deny this aspect of proposition 8 reveals a stunning lack of integrity on their part. Consider the evidence …

Victor Davis Hanson comments on our ‘Upside Down World‘:

Here in California what was the ‘No on Prop 8′ gay lobby thinking, when the Obama registration drives in California brought in thousands of new voters–that they were really all UC Santa Cruz undergrads or absent-minded professors who forgot to register?  Did they really think all those evil white Mormons and Church of Christ throngs in California would overwhelm them at the polls? In truth, each new Obama minority voter registered was a de facto vote against gay marriage.

And though 2 weeks old, La Shawn Barber reminds us that:

Black Californians overwhelmingly supported the measure that defines marriage as between only a man and a woman: 70 percent, while 94 percent voted for Barack Obama. Whites supported Prop 8 49 percent.

Then there’s this pointed punditry about that ‘vaunted liberal tolerance‘ from the Conservative Intelligencer:

The Big Gay Riot continues in California over the ban on homosexual marriage. What a bunch of drama queens. . .

Once again we see just how tactical the liberal embrace of democracy, tolerance, and equality really are. While those on the Left speak of such things as core principles, they’re more often just discursive weapons used to batter down a political opponent. It all depends on whose ox is being gored.

The voters freely and democratically chose to amend the California Constitution. Liberals have now asked the state Supreme Court to overturn the will of the people. Meanwhile, we’ve seen a steady stream of anti-black racism, anti-Mormon religious bigotry, anti-Christian thuggery, political blacklisting and general ugliness.

Finally, Michelle Malkin offers up observation on this hot topic:

Well actually, finally a link to my post last week on this related topic entitled:
